SOLUTIONS TO TRAFFIC CONGESTION

An alternative to traffic restrictions is 'automated footpaths' (moving sidewalks - escalator technology). If it were installed in the core locations of all major cities and when traffic in these areas is banned altogether pollution would be down to 0 emissions. There is no alternative if we want to have cities the way they are. Remember how it was before the advent of cars? There were horsecarts and carriages plying in core cities but with the advent of cars they got pushed to the suburbs and eventually they became outdated. Likewise cars will get pushed to the suburbs after 'automated footpaths' are installed in core cities. And when the 'paths' are spread to the rest of the city areas cars will become outdated. This is not futuristic tech it already exists. Additionally if the 'path's are powered by solar energy instead of electricity it will lead to an even quicker rebalancing of the earth's atmosphere and climate. Cars are the most visible object of mindless consumption. How much self-employment was destroyed how many species became extinct all because of petrol.
