Solutionise

Dear all,

could anybody tell me what the word "solutionise" means:

Rivets made from certain aluminium alloys (e.g. BS L37) shall be set only in a freshly solutionised condition.

Solutionising is a heat treatment as described above. heating to mid way between the solvus and solidus and maintaining until a homogenous structure is formed. For BS L97 (2024) thats about 495 Celcius.
