solution FOR or TO

Hi,

A local company's logo reads the following:
"DATAGROUP: Solutions for your problems"

(1) I wonder if the preposition "for" is used correctly here.
(2) Wouldn't it be any better to say "Solutions TO your problems"?
(3) I guess "solutions to" and "solutions for" may be equally acceptable in many cases but... Could you please give me some examples where only one of the two "versions" (either solution to or solution for) works fine?

Hope my q. makes sense.

Hi, Solution for and solution to are both correct. In this example they are interchangeable. But I think using " to" is just more common.

However "for" is preferred in certain cases. For ex., It was a solution for his daughter. Do you have a touchscreen solution for this phone? and so on. I think you an find plenty of examples in web.

It seems to me there is a difference between using for or to:

"The new bench is the solution for sitting problems." -> reads as "The new bench is the solution for problems which sit." - doesn't make sense, but linguistically it's how I read it.

So, a correct example of the use of for would be "The new bench is the solution for sitting people.", tha
