Soldiers or the soldiers

"Thank you for letting me visit your combat unit. I was impressed by the courage of soldiers."

Is it okay to not use "the" before soldiers if I want to say some soldiers but not all?

And thank you.

Yours,
Raji

"Thank you for letting me visit your combat unit. I was impressed by the courage of the soldiers." (The ones I observed in the unit.)

No, if you don't mean all of them then say:
I was impressed by the courage of some of the soldiers."
