Sold out

- Last week I spent my holiday in Hawaii. When I got there all the hotels were sold out so I was reluctant to stay in a resort.

- Are these sentences grammatical?

They are correct. I don't see, however, the connection between hotels and resorts. 'So' is the word that confuses me.
