Social networking site and business oriented social networking site

Hi,

I looked at the wiki page of facebook and linked in.
For facebook it has social networking site.
for linked in it has business oriented social networking site.

My friend says they are equalent.
He said, It is important when reading a sentence to determine what the noun is.

So according to English, do they have the same meaning? Can some one just ignore the qualifier business oriented in front of social networking for Linked in and say they are basically social networking sites?

Thanks in advance
