The soccerball World Cup is nearly upon us. The two trophies which have been used are both very ugly. The gold colour doesn't help; I think silver is best for a trophy.
The first World Cup was eventually called the Jules Rimet Trophy, even though Jules Rimet Cup would have been more appropriate, as it is a cup (ie you can drink from it). The current one has written on it FIFA World Cup - even though it is not a cup. And why did the French Organization FIFA use the English phrase instead of Coupe Mondiale. Was it a fiver a letter?
I'm hoping that one of the 4 teams that have won the latter cup twice will win it again this time. Then we can have a new one in 2014.
