So+adj+as to

Hi,

"He is so old as to go to school."

1. Does this sentence sound natural to a native speaker's ear?

2. If the sentence is perfectly fine, how would you paraphrase it?

I would be grateful if someone could take the time to anwer this question.

I'm a native, but I think you can say... He is as old as... but, to go to school, in this case, sounds weird for me!

Thanks for the reply. So no one from English speaking countries would understand it, right?

No, it doesn't sound natural and I'm not sure what it means. "He is old enough to go to school" is fine. Is that what you want to say?

Thank you, Khoff. That's exactly what I want to say. Somebody asked me if there was a difference in meaning between "He is old enough to go to school" and "He is so old as to go to school" I thought the latter sentence sounded really wierd, so I wanted to check its meaning with a native speaker. Thanks for the help.
