Are these sentences correct:

1) This is a key so that you can enter the building whenever you want to.

2) This key is so that you can enter the building whenever you want to.


I think '1' would work in the context where I am giving some a key. It would mean:

1a) I am giving you this key so that you can enter the building whenever you want to.


I am not sure about '2'. The meaning is: The purpose of this key is to enable you to enter the building whenever you want to.
