So ~ that structure

(1)I was so tired that I almost slept.

(2)I was so tired so I almost slept.

(3)I was so tired and I almost slept.

- I think (1) is absolutley correct.

But if I use 'so','and' instead of 'that', am I grammatically wrong?

thanks in advance

(2)I was so tired so I almost slept. Incorrect grammar. The correct structure is so . . . that . . .

(3)I was so tired and I almost slept. This does not indicate a consequence. It just tells us about two events.
