"Money laundering is a global issue so requires a global response, but with the current global financial crisis taking hold banks cannot get complacent and view their compliance team as just another cost centre."

I feel uncomfortable with the sentence above. It seems to me that the subject after "so" is missing.
I would correct it as follows.

Money laundering is a global issue so it requires a global response, but with the current global financial crisis taking hold banks cannot get complacent and view their compliance team as just another cost centre.
