So is Spike Lee a racist?

I've always thought so. His pugnacious attack on Clint Eastwood and the Iwo Jima movie is making him look like a jackass. Clint is the guy who made Bird when no one else would.

Lee has often been willing to race-bait, and occasionally it's been ugly. (Such as when he got Norman Jewison jettisoned from Malcom X).

"Racist" is a strong word, however, and it's hard to see how you'd justify such a thing from the link you posted.

Spike's wrong, Clint can make any movie he wants to make. This is like Spike complaining about the pictures on the walls of pizzeria all over again. Clint can hire Eric Gracia, and have reptile marines storming iwo jima if he wants to, then maybe I would have gone to see it.

What I find funny, is Kathleen Hairass and her Atty were on Fox *** complaining about the HBO movie Recount..
Recount was made by the guy that made Borat! And they are on TV offering counter arguements. Is that only funny to me?

Actually, Larry Charles was credited as the director on Borat. Jay Roach, director of Recount, was one of the producers.

Yeah, she blew it. She didn't have a clue about how twisted hot she was for 15 seconds. She should've done a move directed by John Waters or someone qually jangled - like you - and she'd be hosting Vanity Fair Oscar parties every year.

"Mad Magazine" is (or was) one of the few institutions left in the United States that teaches critical thinking to children. Imagine how saddened I was when I learned that they started accepting advertising a few years ago.

Steering back to topic: in my early screenplays (i.e., those I wrote in boyhood), it seems like whenever I'd try to write humor (emphasis there on the word "try") it'd sound all too much like "Mad". Far too many "?" "No, !" jokes. Here's a perfect example, from their musical parody of "Star Trek":

Scotty: Captain, the ship canna take much more!
Kirk: You mean the ship's superstructure can't take the tremendous speed at which we're travelling?
Scotty: No, the CREW of the ship canna take no more of your TERRIBLE SINGING! They're about to MUTINY!
Fortunately, when I was no longer a child, I set aside childish things. :-)
