"So fun"

Why do I cringe when I hear people say things like "it is SO fun" or similarly modified usage with "fun".

I don't think it's correct but I can't find a reason.

Hi, It's wrong because 'fun' is not an adjective. However, its evolution into an adjective is very well underway. My dictionary actually lists it as adj.
