So anyway...comma

HI everyone, I was wondering if I could pick your brains on this comma dilemma. In the following sentence,

So anyway, it just made me feel really bad.

should there be an additional comma between the So and anyway:

So, anyway, it just made me feel really bad.

??

Personally, i'm leaning towards not having it, as it seems to disrupt the flow of the introductory phrase. But i know some people who insist on it for some unknown reason.
What do you guys think?
And if you think there should be an extra comma, can you give a reason why/cite some sources?

Thanks ever so much

There are no hard and fast rules about commas, though people always try to say there are. No matter what you do, you will always offend or annoy somebody. One method that usually works is to just say the sentence and listen for where the natural spaces are.

  • I personally would agree with you to leave out the extra comma, but it's a matter of opinion, always.
