so and as

He is tall , so is his brother.
He is tall ,as is his brother.
Any difference between the two sentences?

The first is not possible: it is a mistake. These are synonymous:

He is tall. So is his brother.
He is tall, as is his brother.

'He is tall, and so is his brother.' is also correct.
