So

"They're trying to trim their costs, so staff who leave are not being replaced."
What's the meaning of "so" in the setntence above? {My guess is "since,because" - possible?}
Thanks in advance

Hello MM88 I think you can paraphrase the "so" into "therefore" or "accordingly". paco

-----------
Therefore? What you say is:
They trim their costs, therefore they don't need the workers (who leave) anymore?

But if they trim the costs they will have more money and they will have money to ebgage workers, won't they?
