Hello, Do you think they all fit in here: "He...to his feet when his dad walked into the room"? I would only use "jump". I am not sure about snap, I don't want to use jerk for obvious reasons. What would you use? Thank you

I prefer "jumped" also. "Snapped" works, but it sounds sharper. "Jerked" isn't right.
