Smoking in Movies

In a couple modern Chinese films I've watched, the female heroines smoked. This is not so common in modern American films anymore, is it? I quit smoking long ago, but, damn, seeing beautiful women smoke is sexy (in a sick twisted way). When I (secretly) dated a Chinese actress some years back, we'd lie in bed together smoking cigarettes and making smoke rings that went into each other. So totally unhealthy, supporting all that is evil (esp. corporate death merchants), but we had FUN.

What characters DO is an expression of who they ARE. The whole issue of smoking as a representation of character changes with the times. What is more interesting is that what was consistent decades ago with heroic, gutsy behavior can now be viewed as reprobate indicia and cause the performance to be viewed as dated.

  • Obviously, we all know that Bogart was the hero and he smoked and the movies were released in the 1940's, but still it has that element of "not working" today.

I love to smoke, but I quit. I never will again. The guilt of smoking was too much, but I secretly loved it. I quit drinking whiskey too. Movies didn't make me smoke or drink whiskey. The military and nightclubs did.

I hope there are cigarettes and whiskey in heaven like in "The Big Rock Candy Mountain," although I would prefer them held with a long black cigarette holder (with rhineston

"Distortion" seeing beautiful women smoke is **** (in a sick

smoking depends on the character, and how it is received depends on who is watching. Having been to my share of bars and having met lots of women with smoker's breath, I know I would never again want to kiss any female that smoked. Might as well lick a penny, and do you know what a penny tastes l

Difficult to do, because the people sitting next to me keep telling me to put of the cigarette and stops sloshing my cocktail on them. But ef 'em! I mean, I tried *** in the cinema - but the cup holder kept jabbing me in the ****, so smoking and drinking is gonna have to do.

There aren't very many cinemas left in London where smoking is still permitted while watching the movie. I think the Coronet, and there's one

My guess is that it's an oral thing. When you see a woman smoking a cigarette you're thinking of something else being in her mouth, although, in your case, the cigarette is a little bigger.

Or perhaps you're just thinking about her mouth, because it's the focus of her action. If she kept sticking a cigarette in her ***, you'd probably think about her ***.
