Smoke off

what does 'smoke off' means? Is it something like putting an end ?

Like , if I say : why can not I put an end to this or get it out my head? Similarly can I say why cant I smoke it off?

'Is not it stange , people still expect from you knowing you can do anything right.'

Is is a correct sentence?

I'm not familiar with "smoke off." Have you tried Urban Dictionary?

Isn't it strange? People expect great things from you, even though they know you can't do anything right.

There are several other ways to word it.

I've heard it in the song titled: "The Great Smoke off" by Shel Silverstein (1972). It's about a smoking contest.

Also there is the following usage:
I bummed a smoke off my buddy.
