Smiley face or smiling face?

Which one is correct, smiley face or smiling face?

And I saw an emoticon smiley face. Is this a correct form? If so, how can I analyze the phrase? An emoticon is an equal to smiley face?

I think that a smiley / smiling face emoticon is a correct form.

What do you native English speakers think? Thank you so much as usual in advance.
