Smile provocatively?

He smiled provocatively at me.

Is 'provocatively' okay to use here or is it odd?

And what does it mean? Do you smile provocatively at someone to provoke them?

Top answer

It is weak. Exactly what is he provoking in you—anger, arousal, curiosity? We can't tell unless the context makes it crystal clear, and I don't see right away how that is possible.
