"smells" confuses me!

Our chefs will create a true journey through flavors and smells.


Does this word has positive meaning in this context (it should)!

Smells can be either pleasant or unpleasant. While most people (taking part in that journey) will find those smells pleasant, there's a chance that some people will think just the opposite.

smell is rather neutral.... and it might vary regionally. How about "aroma"?
