Smartphone, Smart People?

Smartphone is now a must-have gadget of everyone, especially the teens. The versatility of the gadget is bringing us unimaginable convenience. However, inevitably, it is also extremely annoying to me particularly when i was dining with friend or on any kind of public transport.

Is smartphone helping people or harming people? Surely, smartphones with social apps such as Whatsapp or Skype definitely connect people. I can remember that I was so touched when I saw my girl friend which was studying in Finland in my cell phone in Christmas. However, we can observe that people are now getting obsessed in using smartphone. Friends dining on the same table are not speaking with each other but playing with their phone. I am always upset about this because that's not what i am expecting. I expect a warm dinner should be full of laughter and chatting.

Another phenomenon worrying me is that people are getting more and more stupid and indecisive which I believe, partly, because of the phone. The multi-functions of phones making people totally rely on it. People now don't write their schedule down, planing the route before they go out nor confirm a meeting time. They all rely on the reminder of phone map built-in and the instant messenger. I could say that once the phone is broken down or out of battery. People have to no clue for what to do.

I do agree that smartphone is an essential gadget nowadays. Even now, I am writing this with my cellphone. However, we should consider how much we let the phone entering our lives. For now, I think it is way too far. Let's put down out phones and go out for a walk without it!
