Is this correct and natural?

I mean small market area as a city or town and they might have the population of about 20,000.

Ah. It is. I didn't present all the parameters.

1-- No numerals at the beginning or end of a sentence if there is any hint of confusion (e.g. where a period might be confused with a decimal point), and generally good style not to do so ever.

But

2-- Don't use words for very big numbers, which looks long and awkward.
