Sloppy writing (of an essay)

Is "sloppy" neutral or negative in this sense?

If I say "he has a sloppy writing", is this a criticism? Does this imply that I think he should have written better and have been more careful?

Top answer

book mango 418"he has a sloppy writing", Is not good English as written. But if you add "style" after "writing", it will be correct. Sloppy= as GPY already explained, is a word with negative connotation. In this case, is his writing (habit or style).
