Yeah, it could be flattering men, but there are so many other ways to become self-complacent.

It's from a translation of an interview (in Japanese); a rough context is...

I was not sure how that translation sounds to natives' ear. A friend of mine has just advised me to change "slip" for "lull," if I want a mild humor
