slide or slip?

Hi guys yesterday i was shaving and thought about how i can say that the razor doesnt move smoothly due to lack of shaving foam(i didnt have at the moment)and so i thought ,how would i say that the razor doesnt move smoothly?

can i say the razor doesnt SLIDE/SLIP on the skin for lack of shaving foam?
