Slid to the right

...but the timeline for developing a nuclear device has "thankfully slid to the right a bit," he said.

My query:
What is the meaning of' 'slid to the right' ,in the above ? Is there also a usage, 'slide to the left'?

  • I actually only heard this term for the first time recently, and I haven't heard it used with "slide to the left" though it seems possible.
  • We had planned to introduce this in August 2010, but it will happen in June 2010 instead.
