Which one of these sentences is correct?

Would you like to have a slice of an apple?
Would you like to have a slice of apple?

You would normally say "Would you like a slice of apple?"

They're both correct.
If the apple is in hand, it would be more natural to omit the "an."

If the person is proving hard to satisfy, and several options are being offered, the "an" could be appropriate.
