Hello, I'd like you to answer a question. In the progressive sentence, can the inversion including the when-clause occur? Is (b) grammatical? (a) is the original sentence and the part of (b) is the inverted one.
(a) She was sleeping when he arrived.
(b) Susan said that Mary was sleeping when John arrived, and sleeping when he arrived she was.
Thank you in advance.

I agree with Clive but would like to add that inverting the sentence in this manner seems to imply a surprised tone.
I had heard that he was tall, and tall he was! They said it would rain and rain it did! Jill told Jack to run, and run he did! Susan said Mary was sleeping when John arrived, and sleeping when he arrived she was.
