Sleep in (and alternative phases with the same meaning)

Hi,

(1) A. How come you were late for work yesterday?

B. Sorry, I just slept in...

Is this trivial dialog correct English?

What if I turn B. into Sorry, I just overslept... ?

(2) What is the most common/natural/casual way to convey this idea (=just slept in)?

Looking forward to your kind comments...

In this context it is better to say "overslept". This is clearer that you accidentally slept beyond the time when you were supposed to get up (which I assume is what you mean). The rest of the dialogue is OK.
