Slang word "sport"?

It's from the movie It's Kind Of A Funny Story

Parents: What were you planning to about your bike, hon?

Boy:I dont care about my bike, Im killing myself

Parents: But we spent alot of money on the bike, sport.

Whant is the word sport doing in here?? I think it must have some other meaning than general "sport". Could it mean something like "dude" or "boy"?

It's not a new slang word; its a very old one. " It was very popular in the generation before mine -- that is, in the 1920's. I tend to associate it with the affluent.
