Slammed/cut by the edge

Hi

One guy was in the prison cell. The guard came and told him (from behind the door) to come up to the cuffing slot. The guy came up to the door, extended his hands through the slot with his back facing the door. He was cuffed hard, his bony wrists slammed together and cut by the edge of the slot.

I understand that his wrists, after the guard cuffed him, squeezed together and at the same time while the guard was doing it he cut his hands or wrists by the edge of the slot?
