Hi everyone. I'm reading the book named: "The Beasts of Clawstone Castle". something is so vague for me in this book.
There was a set of brushes for cleaning out Northumbrian Small Pipes and a round, brownish thing covered in some kind of skin, which was labelled "The Clawstone Hoggart."
Lord Trembellow asked: "What is a Hoggart?"
- I don't know my lord. It is a thing like half a skinned Pekinese rolled into a sort of ball and it is just labelled "the Clawstone Hoggart"

My prbolem is with skinned Pekinese. What exactly is a skinned Pekinese?
shininglife What exactly is a skinned Pekinese? It's a small dog of the "Pekinese" breed from which (after death) the skin (pelt) has been removed. The link shows images of Pekinese dogs (not skinned of course).

It seems to be exactly what it says, a lap dog that has had its skin stripped off. I must say that the expression does not conjure a very vivid image for me, either.
