Vocabulary

Skin and fur

Hi,

I would like to ask how to use fur or sheepskin appropriately.
I can say lamb fur coats, but what about sheepskin coats?
Which can I choose? The sheep's fur/skin needs shearing.

Lots of thanks.

Top answer

I can say lambs wool coats. A sheepskin has the skin, wool does not. Wool is shorn from the sheep, and the sheep lives to grow more wool for the next year.

  • If you have a sheepskin coat, they had to kill the sheep, but perhaps they used it for meat.

No. The sheep needs shearing. And sheep have wool, not fur.
