ski jumping "do or go"?

Hi,
I´ll be greatful for your advice and opinions.

Which verb collocates with "ski jumping"? "Go" or "do"?
Many textbooks say we use "go" with -ing activities and do with activities we can do on our own, often in a gym.
go swimming/skateboarding/mountain biking/running/skiing/diving ....
do karate/judo/yoga/pilates/athletics/gymnastics ...

The trouble is, you can do a lot of those -ing activities on your own, too. (though, probably not in a gym but you can do yoga/karate/athletics outside, too)
And in my mother tongue, most of these, both -ing activities, and not-ing activities collocate with both verbs "go" and "do".
So in my language it would be ok to say I do ski jumping/swimming/skateboarding/surfing .... .Or I go ski jumping/swimming/skateboarding/surfing ....Or, we would say I ski jump. I swim. I skateboard. i surf.

How about in English, particularly "ski jumping". What sounds the most natural?

What about

do skateboarding, do swimming, do surfing? Do they sound totaly out of place? And if they sound strange, what about phrases with "a lot of"? "I do a lot of skatebording." "I do a lot of swimming" .......

And what about some athletic disciplines? I think people say "do long jump", "do high jump", so would that be ok to say "do ski jump"?

No, but I'd use "go" for those.
radovan"I do a lot of skateboarding." "I do a lot of swimming"
Fine. The alternatives are "I go skateboarding a lot" and "I go swimming

So not even

"do the ski jump"? (when thought of as an event)

Thanks CJ?

Btw, are you British or American/Canadian?
It´s just that the British haven´t probably discussed ski jumping since the times of Eddie Edwards, so I have never heard or read any collocations on that

Frankly, I don't know what they call that event. Have you tried Googling Olympic events? That might give you a better answer than I can give.
radovanBritish or American/Canadian?
Californian. (U.S.)
