Whats the difference and when do we usually use sized?

'sized' is generally used when it is employed as an adjective [in combination or with a submodifier ]
when the submodifer relates to having a specified size: e.g. sparrow-sized birds | comfortably sized rooms.

But I often interchange the two and would love to hear what others have to say.
