Please advise what are the correct answers to the following questions:

What size is it? It's size 8. Or it's a size 8.

But if I have to tell the difference between size 8 and a size 8, can I say that size 8 is more abstract, which describes the property of the merchandise, and a size 8 refers to the actual size 8 merchandise (a size 8 pair of shoes for example)? When asked about shoe fitting at a shoe store, which of the following are proper replies?

Krish, you can certainly say what you suggest, but it's not what you'll usually hear in a shoe store. In such a place, you are 'stating the obvious' when you say 'my shoe size is 8', because the salesclerk knows you are not talking about y
