Vocabulary

size

Hello!

I have problems with the word size in the context.

This approach, unfortunately, does not take into consideration the fact that the power of negotiation is a notion that refers to the capability of an individual to overpower, which is always a relative notion that can be based on the whole range of elements which are not always derived from the size and economic power of the parties in question.

I wonder whether it works in English in this context and whether it can be replaced by something more appropriate.

If you have any other suggestions or corrections, I would be more than happy to read them.

Thank you very much in advance

We do talk of businesses in terms of 'size'.

Dear Antonia,

It is perhaps «influence».

Is it possible you could say:

...the fact that the power in negotiation refers to the capability of an individual...

instead of: ...the fact that the power of negotiation is a notion that refers to the capability of an individual...

Also, for 'size', you might consider 'stature'.

Hello everybody and thank you for your suggestions. Emotion: smile

Do you agree that size is also OK?

Davkett, is it ok

'stature'-- from Merriam-Webster: 'quality or http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=status gained by growth, development, or achievement.'

The word has no reference to 'inanimate'.
