Sixpence None the Richer?

We all know there are plenty of strange band names out there, as one can see at http://www.google.com.br/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBsQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.brightlightsfilm.com%2Fweirdbandnames%2F&ei=UCG3TdvdN9DUgAfn6LFg&usg=AFQjCNG2FvCzoG52vbVRLydRR9D8XLFvXw&sig2=UOcmTjEm-ANie5ygZZYWDg.

But this one drove me nuts: Sixpence None the Richer. What the heck does it mean?

Wikipedia has a story about it. It's supposed to be from a story written by C.S. Lewis.

Well, thanks, Vorpar, that's interesting.

But now I ask you all about the phrase itself. Doesn't "Sixpence none the richer" sound senseless or at least grammatically wrong?
