Situational English

Hi teachers,

I need your help. I am now preparing a trail lesson. My groupmate and I have decided to teach situational English. We want to let our students (they are all our classmates.) know what a patron and a hairdresser says. But, we have no idea.

So, I need someone to give us some vocab and useful expressions relating to this situation.

I hope you can understand what I said.

Thank you very much.

Apart from obviously discussing the required hair style hairdressers are also famous for gossiping in general and the classic questions are

'Have you been on holiday yet this year?' and 'Are you going anywhere special?' (to find a reason for the haircut I suppose).

When we go to a restaurant like McDonald's, the waiter may say " May I help you?" or" What would you like to order?".

When we go to a hair salon, what does the hairdresses say to a customer? What does the customer respond to the hairdresses?

I also need some vocab like fringe...layers....etc.

I hope you can understand this message.

Thank you very much.

There is less of a set conversation than in a scripted McDonalds but I guess along the lines of

HAirdresser: "So, what are we doing today?"

Patron: "Just a trim please" (again, a pretty stock phrase meaning you want about an inch off all over, then you go home and complain because they have cut it too short!)

Hairdresser: "Come over to the basin please." (washes hair) "

Hello,

Hope I'm not too late in responding?

Here are some ideas for you:

Making an appointment by telephone --

"Hello, XYZ Hair Studio, may I help you?"

"Yes, I'd like to make an appointment, please."

"What can we do for you?"

"I'd like a color and cut."

"And, when would you like to come in?"
