Sitting in / on a chair

is there a difference between "sitting on a chair" and "sitting in a chair"?

Nothing really. I was to hasty answering that. But I still think 'on a chair' refers more to an act/process of sitting down (on a chair) rather than being in the chair once you're seated. I guess this makes the difference between the two.
