there are two questions:
1. Is
sink for an idiom?
The following is an excerpt from an aticle in Newsweek.
(
http://www.newsweek.com/2010/11/08/the-stars-of-the-recession.html )
“I saw the writing on the wall,” he says. “A lot of my mentors were feeling the pain, and they were much better
at it than I was. I figured,
if the baskets aren’t sinking for LeBron, what chance do I have?”
I assume that
basket is a hoop that is used for basket ball. And I know that Lebron is one of the
most talented basket ball players.
But what in the world does it mean, baskets are sinking for lebron?;
2. In the same context, plz look at the words in bold, and Italic type.
What do you think the
it is?
I think
it means
feeling the pain.but isn't it akward? what does it mean that someone is better at feeling the pain?
Does it mean he/she is better at taking the pain?
