Singular/Plural question

Hi,

I have a quick question. Which is the correct version of the sentence?

"Part of the requirements are two exams" or "Part of the requirements is two exams"? I'd go with the former, but I'm not sure.

Top answer

I would say is. I say that because I am classing the two exams as one requirement. I think the context of the whole paragraph may alter my thoughts or may not.

I would say that "out of the several requirements there are two exams to pass" if you worded it that way it is clear y
