Singular/plural

Which is correct? Or are these both acceptable?

Even if the subject was 'we' instead, it would still have to be 'people', MM?

Yes, 'people' is the normal plural; 'persons' is pretty much restricted to legal/formal documents, etc.

(By the way, MM, could you replace the 'says' with 'say' in the second example of my first post. When I wrote that, I just changed 'a person' in the first example to 'persons' and forgot to change that 'says' to 'say').
