Singular VS plural

Hi, teachers. Please help me.

"I'll also need these contracts to get to Tokyo by Friday. Send it to the home of the president of the company."

I think "it" is "these contracts". But why not "them", but "it"?

I suspect he's holding a sealed envelope in his hand and gesturing to Maria as he says, "these contracts." They both understand that he's talking about the envelope.

I understand your point. It doesn't seem like good grammar. If you had the video, you probably wouldn't even notice the lack of agreement.
