Grammar

Singular or plural verb in this sentence

Hi Everyone,

I completed a preemployment grammar test with this question:

Either she or I __________ dinner each day.

The choices were prepare and prepares. I chose prepares only because it sounds better when read aloud. It was scored as incorrect.

"she prepares" for example would work, but I recognize that "I prepares" does not.

What say you?

Eric
