Grammar

Singular or plural noun after plural antecedent

Dear Reader of This,

A question arose here about language in our faculty handbook: should the following be A or B?

A. All instructors whose initial contracts

B. All instructors whose initial contract

Thank you.

Grammatically you can use either, since common sense tells us that each instructor has one contract. Stylistically, matching plural to plural is a bit smoother.
