Singular or Plural after "their".

Hello,

I would like to understand if i should use sigular or plural after their in this example:

1) We help companies use data to improve their business strategy.

OR

2) We help companies use data to improve their business strategIES.

If you could also provide a brief explanantion as to why.

Even a single company probably has multiple strategies. Here you have multiple companies, so the singular would sound very strange. Keep it in the plural.

If we assume that there is only one business strategy for each company. Does that change things?

Thanks!!
