Singular or plural

Are there any differences between 1) and 2)?

Or which is correct, more common, or sounds more natural? And why?


1) More information helps us make a better decision, but it sometimes causes us to misunderstand.

2) More information helps us make better decisions, but it sometimes causes us to misunderstand.

They are both correct, but #2 is the one I prefer. The plural seems to fit better as we are talking about decisions in general.
